Lorem Ipsum Generator
Generate placeholder text instantly by paragraphs, sentences, words, or exact character count. Choose classic Latin or readable English, add headings, lists, and HTML formatting, then copy in one click. Free, no signup
Why We Built the Lorem Ipsum Generator
Short "lorem lorem lorem" filler hides the exact layout problems you're trying to catch. We built a generator that gives you realistic, precisely sized placeholder — by paragraph, sentence, word, or character — with headings, lists, and ready-to-paste HTML. Classic Latin keeps design reviews focused, and a readable mode covers clients who want sensible text. It's instant, private, and completely free.
Generate Placeholder Text in Three Steps
Pick a mode — paragraphs, sentences, words, or characters — and enter the amount you need. Choose your content type: classic Lorem Ipsum, readable English, or a bullet list, and optionally add headings, emphasis, or HTML formatting. Click Generate, then copy the result in one click and paste it into Figma, your code editor, or any design tool. Everything runs in your browser.
Common Mistakes to Avoid
❌ Testing with short filler
✓ Solution:
A single line of "lorem ipsum" hides overflow, wrapping, and spacing problems that real, longer copy will expose. Generate at least a few paragraphs for body text and two to three sentences for cards, and use word-count mode to match your expected final length.
❌ Reusing identical text everywhere
✓ Solution:
Pasting the same block into every element creates artificial repetition that masks true layout behavior. Generate fresh, varied text for different sections so line breaks and rhythm reflect what real content will do.
❌ Skipping different font sizes and headings
✓ Solution:
Placeholder that looks fine at one size can break at another. Test your text across body sizes and heading levels (H1–H6) to catch awkward line breaks, widows, and hyphenation before launch, not after.
❌ Presenting Latin without context
✓ Solution:
Some clients see Lorem Ipsum and assume it's a mistake or start "fixing" it. Label it as sample text and explain it's placeholder so reviews stay on the design — or switch to the readable English mode for clients who prefer sensible copy.
❌ Forgetting to remove it before launch
✓ Solution:
Placeholder text shipping to production is a classic, embarrassing bug. Always replace it with final content before deployment, and do a search for "lorem" across your codebase or CMS as a last check.
Frequently Asked Questions
Its scrambled Latin has no readable meaning, so reviewers evaluate layout, typography, and spacing instead of editing wording. It also mimics natural word and sentence lengths, revealing overflow and line-break issues that short or random filler hides. That focus tends to speed up design approval.
It depends on the element: one to two sentences for hero sections and cards, three to five paragraphs for an About page, and five to ten for a blog post. For responsive testing, generate around 25% more than the expected final content to stress-test overflow before it happens in production.
Paragraph mode builds full blocks of several sentences for body content; sentence mode suits cards and captions; word mode hits an exact word count for stress tests; and character mode gives a precise character length — ideal for meta descriptions (around 155), tweets (280), or SMS (160). As a rough guide, one paragraph is about 100 words or 500 characters.
Yes. A readable mode produces sensible English placeholder for clients who dislike Latin, and the classic mode gives authentic Lorem Ipsum. You can also output HTML with paragraph, heading, list, and emphasis tags, so it pastes straight into web projects, email templates, or a CMS without manual formatting.
It derives from Cicero's De Finibus Bonorum et Malorum, written in 45 BC, with the standard passage drawn from sections 1.10.32 and 1.10.33. An unknown printer scrambled it in the 1500s to make a type specimen book, and it spread through Letraset sheets and later desktop publishing to become the industry-standard placeholder.
Ipsum Generator: Create Custom Placeholder Text by Paragraph, Word or Character — Free & Instant
The Lorem Ipsum Generator produces clean placeholder text for mockups, wireframes, prototypes, and templates in a single click. Generate exactly what your layout needs — from 1 to 50 paragraphs, up to 100 sentences, up to 500 words, or a precise character count for things like meta descriptions and social posts. Because the dummy text carries no meaning, reviewers focus on typography, spacing, and hierarchy instead of editing the copy.
It goes beyond basic filler. Choose classic Latin Lorem Ipsum or a readable English variation for clients who prefer sensible placeholder, and add headings (H1–H6), ordered or unordered lists, and bold or italic emphasis. HTML output drops straight into web projects with proper <p>, <h1>–<h6>, <ul>, and <strong> tags, saving you the manual formatting.
It's built for web and UI/UX designers testing responsive layouts, developers checking form fields and character limits, and content strategists visualizing structure before the real copy exists. The generated text uses realistic word and sentence lengths so overflow and line-break issues surface early. Copy the result into Figma, XD, Photoshop, WordPress, or any editor. Everything runs in your browser — no signup, no watermarks, completely free.
